  • Overview

    In conjunction with the Dow Center Management Team, the Front Desk Agent/Housekeeper works to provide the highest level of hospitality service possible in an efficient, courteous and professional manner.

    Responsibilities

    1. Checks guests in/out of the hotel utilizing property management system and sales and catering module, including the posting of charges and payments.
    2. Performs various secretarial duties including word processing, typing, proofreading, preparing forms, and filing.
    3. Handles routine business transactions with internal and external customers.
    4. Makes hotel reservations.
    5. Answers and responds to telephone calls and inquiries in a professional manner.
    6. Performs and/or is aware of daily room set-ups to ensure customer satisfaction.
    7. Performs daily housekeeping of hotel rooms.
    8. Maintains a clean entrance to the hotel (i.e. removes debris, litter, leaves, dirt and snow from entrance to street; emptying trashcans; cleans cigarette receptacles).
    9. Cleans and sanitizes restrooms including, fixtures, hardware, tile, mirrors, partitions and floors. Replenishes supplies as needed.
    10. Maintains front lobby (i.e. cleans, washes front entrance windows, keeps areas neat and tidy).
    11. Performs laundry services (washes, dries, folds, and stores all DHCC linen) in accordance with established department laundry procedures.

    Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Knowledge of principles and processes for providing excellent customer service. 2. Ability to work under limited supervision requiring only outline suggestions for handling office situations. 3. Must be able to use a computer with software including but not limited to: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Excel and Hotel Property Management System. 4. Ability to operate department equipment or willingness to learn operation procedures. 5. Possess excellent oral and written communications skills, including strong listening. 6. Ability to keep calm and remain personable under pressure. 7. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with deadline pressures and manage multiple projects simultaneously. 8. Possess excellent organizational skills. 9. Ability to proofread material. 10. Ability to maintain confidentiality. 11. Ability to maintain a customer-centric approach with constituents.

     

    Education and Experience

     A High School Diploma or GED is required. Prior experience or knowledge sufficient to demonstrate the ability to perform the job successfully is also required.

     

    Physical Requirements

    1. This is a part-time position and requires weekend work together with flexible starting/stopping times based on hotel needs. 2. Ability to walk, bend, stoop, climb. 3. Ability to safely lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds. 4. Requires average physical strength. 5. Ability to operate mechanical cleaning equipment as required. 6. Potential for occupational exposure to blood, body fluids, or other infectious/hazardous materials.

     

    Other Skills

    1. Knowledge of cleaning terms and safety procedures related to hazardous chemicals. 2. Knowledge of proper building cleaning and maintenance techniques and safety procedures. 3. Ability to follow instructions. 4. Effective communications skills. 5. Basic computer skills.
